I have added the meeting room calendar for June.
Please note that Cindy has already added the events for SRP. These events take precedence over anything else, no matter what a patron might say.
Thanks,
Brandon

New Year, New You
The Mayor is presenting a wellness program that aims to encourage and motivate Houstonians to engage in wellness activities during 2009. The program consists of game cards that will contain wellness activities that are to be performed throughout the challenge period from January 25 to February 28, 2009. For more information on the program, you can visit:
http://www.getmovinghouston.com/newyouchallenge.htm
In addition to being available online, the cards will be available for pick-up at all Houston Public Libraries. Right now, I have a box of materials in my office. Next week, I intend to go through it and make sure that we have all the materials we need to participate in this event.
At the end of the challenge period, people will be able to drop off their cards at HPL locations and we will give them coupons rewarding them for completing the challenge. There will be more coming on this as we approach the end of the challenge.
Thanks,
Brandon

This just in
All,
I want to remind you all that with the implementation of our newest revision of the Library Security section of our policy and procedure manual (Policy 2.3), we no longer restrict the use of cell phones to specific areas. People are free to use cell phones as long as their doing so does not create loud, unreasonable or disturbing noises. We also state that "Respect for other library users shall prevail at all times." Cell phones are a part of our user's life, and to disallow their use would not help us with our goal to provide excellent customer service. Too often our customers are using their phones in ways that enhance their customer experience, whether it's being talked through the use of a website or finding out what they were really sent to the library to get.
This policy, procedure and notice to users can be found on the Intranet under https://hplnet.hpl.lib.tx.us/policies.html under the Planning and Facilities tab. This policy and procedure are ones that you and your staff should review frequently.
Please remove any signs you may have in your location banning or restricting cell phone usage.
Thank you,
Gina
