July Meetings Recap
Collected from meetings held 7/11, 7/18 & 7/25:
Library Card Registration
The MyLink online registration links have all been corrected, so we shouldn’t run into any more problems with people signing up using the wrong form.
Please remember to do a name search when starting a new library card for a patron.
Please verify that address information is correct before you scan the card for a new patron.
Customers may use P.O. Boxes as their mailing address, but they must show proof of their physical address.
Learning Link
Axis360 is now available to HISD students via the Learning Link card.
Statistics
We are no longer counting holds (processed, pulled, delivery, etc.). Instead, we need to track questions about citizenship classes, ESL classes, and language learning.
Kronos
Please send an email to me and Melissa any time your work schedule changes or there is a discrepancy in Kronos. Please do so in a timely manner. If something comes up the day timecards are approved, please email AND text us.
Monthly Reports
Monthly reports are due August 7th.
FIDS
Belinda Cox has asked that we send in a copy of the monthly delivery log. Tina has agreed to be in charge of this.
Incident Reports
Please remember to describe problem patrons so those of us who weren’t around or don’t already know the person have a general idea of what the person looks like.
Call the police if you indefinitely suspend someone.
The naming convention for incident reports is date_branch initials_your initials_descriptive word(s)_patron last name(s) (071117_LOO_LCH_Fight_Potter_Malfoy).
Unattended children – Call the police if a child under the age of 14 is not picked up 30 minutes after closing. (https://hplnet.houstonlibrary.org/polandpro/pol-2_3.pdf Section B.3.)
Volunteers
HPL Volunteer Program Request Form – Please note that this form is for staff use only. Don’t give it to the patron to fill out.
Programs
Legacy Community Health will have new monthly programs starting in September.
Zumba will resume in September.
Summer Reading Program
The last day to log books and activities is August 1st.
We are handing out prizes through August 31st, or while supplies last.
Astros tickets are only good through August 1st-3rd. Apparently, customers are being asked to input credit card numbers to activate the tickets.
The top readers (one kid, one teen) will be selected on August 2nd. No bikes this year. It’ll be gaming equipment instead.
Meeting Room Issues
The Ladies of Jasmine is an Order of Eastern Star (OES) group that has met at Montrose. They violated the meeting room rules and may inquire at our location about reserving the room. Please be aware that they cannot hold their private meetings at any of our locations.
